Our 4 Top Family Activities on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is stunning, unique and is packed with activities for families to keep your active kids occupied and engaged!

Holidaying on the Gold Coast is not only reserved for the travelling Byron Bay bohemians and schoolies, this stretch of Queensland coastline also has plenty of activities for families to enjoy!

To really explore the Gold Coast we suggest you try out some of these family friendly activities!

1. DAVID FLEAY WILDLIFE PARK

This wildlife park located in West Burleigh makes for an educational and entertaining day out with the kids.

Simply stroll through lush rainforest and spend time spotting native birds such as owls and brolgas, saltwater crocodiles, koalas, kangaroos and lizards.

You are free to walk around on your own or take a guided ranger tour to hear stories and facts about the wildlife in the park and their habitats.

There is a family friendly cafe and a gift shop so you can settle your hunger for lunch and take home a neat toy to remember the experience.

2. GOLD COAST GLOW WORMS

Kids really enjoy seeing nature at its best and the Natural Bridge at Springbrook is a fantastic place to see the famous Australian glow worms.

Natural Bridge is located within Springbrook National Park, which in itself makes a nice day trip to see the flora, fauna and perhaps have a family picnic amidst the beautiful scenery.

After sun down, head to the Natural Bridge to catch a glimpse of the magical glow worms and depending on the time of year, the luminous fireflies and fungi.

3. TAMBORINE RAINFOREST SKYWALK

Stretch the legs and explore the tropical rainforest canopies on Mt. Tamborine with the whole family.

Families will enjoy the walk along forest floor trails and steel bridges that will take you up 40m into the forest canopy.

You can get a bite to eat at the Birdwing Café or check out some displays and information in the Rainforest Eco Gallery.

The children can look for wildlife and get a bird’s eye view of the natural pools below and the vast scenery beyond.

This is a great family activity to escape those hotter days.

4. THUNDERBIRD PARK

Located on Mount Tamborine, this park is filled with rainforest, natural rock pools and beautiful landscapes.

Parents and children can go bush walking and swimming or take horse rides on the mountain trails.

Children will have the chance to find Thundereggs in the world’s largest Thunderegg mine or play mini golf on the 18-hole course.

For older kids i.e. parents, there is one of the country’s highest ropes course which will test your strength and your will.

If you’re a camping type of family, you can camp out for the night in a caravan or a bunkhouse on the grounds.
